Fußballklub Austria Wien or Austria Vienna were founded in 1911 under the name Wiener Amateur Sportvereinigung. They are the second most succesful team in Austria having won 23 Austrian Bundesliga titles. The club have also reached the final of the UEFA cup winners cup in 1978 and the semi-finals of the European cup in the following season.
Vienna is one of the most beautiful and oldest cities in Europe. It has a history steeped in culture and is thus the cultural centre of Austria. Set on the Danube, it possesses many art galleries, one highlight being the Albertina art gallery, one of the largest in the world. Make sure that you try the delicious speciality dish, the Wiener Schnitzel, the national dish of Austria which consists of a thin piece of veal deap fried in bread crumbs.
They play their games at the Franz Horr Stadium, renamed the Generali Arena due to a sponsorship deal, which holds 13,400 fans. A relatively new East Stand was constructed which is an all standing stand.
